What We Do
Estate Planning covers every aspect of planning for the future of your assets in case of death, disability or incapacity. In addition to directing the disposition of your assets after death, and selection of an Executor or Trustee to act on behalf of your estate, Estate Planning also involves designation of an Agent or Agents to make financial and medical decisions for you during your lifetime. We can advise you regarding the preparation of your Last Will and Testament, Durable Financial Power of Attorney (POA), Health Care Power of Attorney/Living Will/Advance Directive, Minors Trusts, Revocable Living Trusts, Special and Supplemental Needs Trusts and beneficiary designation and titling of non-probate assets.
Estate Administration involves wrapping up the financial affairs of someone who has died, paying debts, taxes and making proper distribution to those entitled. This may be through formal probate of a Will or statutory intestate succession if the decedent had no Will; through a Petition to Settle A Small Estate, if certain criteria are met; through Trust administration, for assets titled in the name of a Trust; through transfer of non-probate or joint assets by title; or some combination of these processes. We can help you determine the correct course of action and handle the details, so that things are done properly.
Whether you and your spouse have recently separated, are seeking an amicable or uncontested divorce, or anticipate a contested divorce or disagreement over the division over the marital assets, we can guide you through the process, including the preparation of prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, property settlement agreements, issues involving temporary alimony or alimony Pendente Lite (APL), equitable distribution and emergency petitions for non-dissipation of marital assets and special relief.
We meet your needs in the complicated and emotionally difficult aspects of Family Law with integrity, privacy and sensitivity. Our family law practice includes child custody and visitation, child support, stepparent adoptions, protection from abuse (PFA), and matters involving Children and Youth Services.
